Ocean’s 8 Starts at $41.5 Million on Opening Weekend
Ocean’s 8. has had a good start weekend, surpassing its current box office debut with $41.5 million. Standing in the way of Solo: Star Wars Story, ending its winning streak. Although it can be short, with The Incredibles 2 premiering this week and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
The $41.5 million in box office receipts is already more than half the budget of Ocean’s 8, and although it only earned $12.2 million outside the U.S. it reached a total of $53.7 million, it should have no problem in making a solid profit. In the opening weekend it also managed to be the best in the history of the Ocean franchise, surpassing Ocean’s Eleven ($38.1 million) in 2001, Ocean’s Twelve ($39.1 million) in 2004 and Ocean’s Thirteen ($36.1 million) in 2007 in its first weekend. A total of $210 million is expected for Ocean’s 8 in the United States.
Chances are he’ll be on top in a very short time as this weekend sees the release of Disney and Pixar’s The Incredibles 2.
