Freeman touched her back with his hand rubbing it, he commented. At one point, Freeman “tried to lift my skirt asking if I was wearing underwear. I can’t do it, but he says that I try to do it while playing, then he pulls away and comes over and tries again.
A video has been released showing Freeman making inappropriate comments to a journalist between 2015 and 2016.
Morgan Freeman is one of Hollywoood’s most popular stars, at 80 years of age, already many years in the film industry.
Freeman apologized, stating that:
“All victims of attack and harassment deserve to be heard. And we need to hear them. But it’s not right to equate horrible incidents of sexual assault with compliments or misplaced humor.
“I admit that I am someone who feels the need to try to make women – and men – feel appreciated and at ease with me. As part of that, I usually try to joke and compliment women in what I thought was a carefree and humorous way.
“Clearly I didn’t always do it the way I intended. And that’s why I apologized on Thursday and I’ll keep trying to apologize to anyone I’ve bothered, even if I didn’t mean to.
“But I also want to be clear: I did not create unsafe work environments. I didn’t abuse any woman. I didn’t offer employment or promotions in exchange for sex. Any hint that I did that is completely false.
